Product description

In 2022, already 35 years have passed since the launch of the popular Erasmus programme. This anniversary is commemorated by a Slovak commemorative coin minted in quality proof.

Thanks to the European Union's Erasmus programme, which has brought together European universities and promoted student exchanges since 1987, university students can travel abroad and gain valuable life experience. They will increase their prospects in the global job market, deepen their knowledge of a foreign language, gain confidence and independence, travel, have fun, meet new people and experience other cultures... The programme is named in honour of Erasmus of Rotterdam, a Dutch Renaissance thinker and representative of humanism. However, the word Erasmus is also an abbreviation for the descriptive title of the programme, which is “European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students“.

The obverse side of the coin, which is the work of the French engraver Joaquin Jimenez, is dominated by a half-statue of Erasmus of Rotterdam inspired by a historical painting. The rays in the background symbolise the European exchange of ideas. The reverse side then presents all the elements of a valid €2 coin.

The coin minted in top quality is stored in an elegant box.
