Femme Fatale

The Czech Mint commemorates the fifth fateful woman, the writer Božena Němcová, whose love life could habe been published as the novel, by issuance of a gold coin from the free cycle…

The marriage of Josef and Božena Němcová did not work
. Everyone was from a different world, and they had only patriotism in common. A much older financial guard official was a furious man who professed the tight morals of the countryside and had no understanding of his wife's romantic ideas. The emancipated writer for change upheld the revolutionary ideals of Prague's intelligentsia and rebelled against outdated values. Because the hypocrisy in interpersonal relationships was foreign to Božena Němcová, she wanted to get divorced a year after the wedding. She described marriage as "slavery, which is often worse than slavery in America." However, when she found out that she was pregnant, she decided to remain in a relationship without love. She didn't want her child to grow up without a father… She looked for a romantic feeling outside the family and did not consider love for another man to be a bad thing. She was an intellectual woman who dazzled with extraordinary beauty, she had many affairs and relationships in her short life, but not because she was fleeting. She took her relationship with every man seriously, but her lovers didn't want to be tied down, so she ended up lonely with a broken heart. "My heart longed to be loved, I needed love like a flower needed a dew drop - but I searched in vain for the way I felt," confided a woman who had not lived to get renewed love.

Medal maker
Vojtěch Dostál, DiS dedicated the reverse side of the coin to a juvenile portrait of the charming but sad Božena Němcová. The reverse side then bears the necessary elements of the island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with foreign license for issuing coins. The elements include the nominal value of 50 DOLLARS (NZD), the name and profile of Queen Elizabeth II. and the year of issue 2020.

Two-hundred years
have passed since the birth of Božena Němcová in 2020, and the schedule of issuance counts 200 gold coins.
