Product description

Major world banks and mints boast their own investment coins. As their name implies, they particularly attract investors, who know that a sophisticated portfolio can not be without gold and other precious metals, rather than collectors and numismatics. As the Czech Republic does not have its pure investment coins yet, the Czech Mint issued its own investment coins in a foreign license under the name the “Czech lion“.

Most world issuers choose easily recognizable national motives for their investment coins. The theme of the austrian coin "Wiener Philharmoniker" is one of the most respected symphonic orchestras of classical music in the world. Canadian "Maple Leaf" carries an official national emblem in the form of a maple leaf. The South African Krugerrand is dedicated not only to historic President Paul Kruger, but also to the state symbol in the form of an jumping antelope. A number of other countries also depict national animals on their investment coins. The American "Eagle" belongs to the majestic balloon eagle, the Chinese "Panda" to black-and-white panda and the australian "Kangaroo" belongs to representatives for the antipodes of the characteristic kangaroos. Even the investment coins of the Czech Mint are not an exception. They belong to the Czech lion together with the St. Wenceslas Eagle.

The reverse side of the investment mintage is dominated by untraditionally realistic concept of a lying two-tailed lion guarding the St. Wenceslas crown along with the flaming eagle on the shield. The author of the original composition was Jaroslav Bejvl, who left us forever at the age of 75, so he did not finish his masterpiece. The young medal maker Asamat Baltaev, DiS. continued. The reverse side belongs to the attributes of the island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license to coin the investment coins. It bears the name and profile of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2018, together with the nominal value of 250 DOLLARS (NZD).

The coin is embossed from pure gold weighing fivefold the amount of the Troy ounce, which is the globally recognized unit of measurement  and it is exempt from VAT.

Why is the Czech Lion coin exceptional?
  • It is the first coin to meet the global recognized investment standards "bullion coin" minted in the Czech Republic
  • The favorable price of the coin does not take into account collectible, artistic or historical value – however, it does not mean that the coin does not have it
  • The price of the coin depends primarily on the spot price of gold and is exempt from VAT
  • The coin is easily tradeable, among other things thanks to redemption
  • Its weight is equal to tenfold the amount of the troy ounce
  • Easily recognizable motif of the coin has a strong link to the Czech Republic
