Czech Lion 2019

Gold coins are not just the privilege of collectors and numismatics. Smart investors know that such mintages will enrich their portfolio. Therefore a number of world banks issue purely investment coins. The Czech Republic did not have such a coin, therefore, the Czech Mint issued the "Czech Lion" - a series of coins issued with a foreign license.

When you ask Czechs what our heraldic animals are, they will certainly answer that these are the Czech lion, the Moravian eagle and the Silesian eagle. Not many of them, however, suspect that the oldest Czech heraldic sign is the so-called flaming eagle, also called St. Wenceslas eagle which is a right-headed black predator with golden claws and a beak (or armor) that is decorated with red flames and set in a silver shield. The noble eagle was probably made according to the Roman coat of arms and appeared before an atypical exotic lion became a symbol of Central Europe. Firstly the flaming eagle was a sign of the Premyslid family primarily used by the prince Bretislav I. Since the end of the 12th century it became a sign of the Czech Principality, later the Kingdom. However, this changed. Emperor Frederick I. Barbarossa promoted Vladislav II. to the King as a reward for bravery, and substituted “a black eagle that has adorned the shield of the Czech princes today" for a one-tailed lion.

The relief of the ten-ounce coin was modified in 2019, but the main idea of the mintage remained. The reverse side presents the St. Wenceslas eagle on a riveted shield along with the St. Wenceslas crown on the cushion. However, the dominant feature is the realistic two-tailed Czech lion that guards both artefacts. The original proposal was made by the medal maker Jaroslav Bejvl, who left us forever at the age of 75, and did not manage to finish his work. Therefore Asamat Baltaev, DiS. continues processing this masterpiece. This is the investment coin of the Czech Mint, which is based on the foreign license of the island of Niue. For that reason the obverse side bears the following attributes - the portrait and the name of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2019, together with the nominal value of 500 DOLLARS (NZD). The obverse is supplemented by linden branches.

Invest your funds into 10 troy ounces of pure gold in a sophisticated way and without VAT. The total schedule of issuance counts 60 pieces - 45 pieces are available separately and another 15 are part of a set of high-weight coins.
