Exactly 20 years have passed since Slovakia became a member of the prestigious OECD Association in 2020. This anniversary is commemorated by the Slovak commemorative coin.
The OECD stands for the intergovernmental Organization for Economic Collaboration and Development. This world association unites the 37 most developed economies on the planet, which operate on the principles of democracy and a market economy. The aim of cooperation between member states is primarily further economic development, which is achieved through the liberalization of international trade, brokering investments, stabilization of financial markets, suppression of unemployment and the fight against corruption, but also care for the environment or social policy. The OECD acts as a forum in which governments can compare their experiences and conclude agreements as a leading statistical agency that collects data, monitors trends and predicts further economic development. The founding document of the organization was signed in 1960 and other states gradually joined the original 20 members. Slovakia became one of them in 2000…
The obverse side of the coin, which was processed by the medal maker Mgr. art. Peter Valach, is dominated by a stylized human brain formed by an intricate structure of printed circuits with a central microprocessor. The reverse side presents all the necessary elements of a valid coin with a nominal value of € 2.
The coin is set in a special collector's card.
